End of James Harrison's career signals start of mending process for Harrison, fans, Steelers

  • Night net null null In the realm of terribly conceived endings to otherwise magical stories, the saga of James Harrison and the Pittsburgh Steelers once seemed as though it were headed for the godawful territory previously occupied by “Million Dollar Baby.”James and the Men of Steel didn’t turn out so badly, though. The “likely” AFC Championship game matchup between the Steelers and New England Patriots turned out to be otherwise, so the nightmare of seeing No. 92 in Patriots gear working feverishly to sack Ben Roethlisberger never materialized. To some degree, every Steelers fan h夜网论坛ad this concern following Harrison's release just before Christmas and subsequent signing with New England just after. The Steelers failed to hold up their end, though, and none of this ever materialized. MORE: The greatest players to don a Steeler uniformSo it’s best for everyone involved — Harrison, the organization, Steeler Nation — to forget any of it happened. The occasion of Harrison’s retirement Monday is an opportunity for everyone involved to reach the conclusion a married couple might when neither side really wants to acknowledge fault but the issue at stake is of no great consequence.Someone needs to say: “Want to be friends?”It probably won’t be[......]

Does Melvin Gordon's response to a fantasy football tweet hint at return to Chargers?

  • Night net null Melvin Gordon wants to be paid. The Chargers running back is entering the final year of his rookie deal, which is currently set to pay him a $5.6 million in base salary in 2019. He either wants a contract extension so he gets paid more, or get traded to a team that's willing to pay him. Since it's training camp, neither side has budged, but with the regular season getting closer, things could get more interesting. From ESPN's Dan Graziano:Both sides hope they can reach a deal that makes him happy by the time the season starts. If they can't, sure, there's a chance the Chargers could look to trade Gordon. They've definitely discussed that possibility internally. They just hope it doesn't come to that.MORE: Best fits in the Night net for a Melvin Gordon trade While there are plenty of real football implications from this negotiation, there are also fake football implications. Fantasy football owners aren't sure how this 夜网论坛is going to play out and therefore are skeptical on drafting Gordon. On one hand he's one of the best running backs in football, but on the other he may sit out several games while this dispute goes on.One fantasy football player tweeted he was debating selecting Gordon in the sixth round of his draft. Titans' upset of Ravens in divisional playoffs could have been predicted based on an obscure Night net stat

  • Night net Ravens v Titans Titans Ravens Considering the Ravens entered Saturday’s divisional playoff game against the Titans as 10-point home favorites, we didn’t hesitate to predict a Baltimore win over Tennessee in both our picks against the spread and our straight-up picks for this weekend's postseason games.Perhaps we should have paid more attention to a strange Night net stat that indicated Tennessee would pull off such a massive upset and reach the AFC championship game in shocking fashion. Days before the Titans beat the Ravens 28-12 in the divisional round, the Night net shared a notable trend as part of its weekend preview. Baltimore in 2019 led the Night net with 3,296 rushing yards, the most by a team in a single season in Night net history; however, Titans running back Derrick Henry led the league in rushing with 1,540 yards. That meant Saturday's game would mark the fourth time in the Super Bowl era the team with the top rushing offense would meet the team with the league's leading rusher in the postseason. In each of the prior matchups, the team with the league's leading rusher won the playoff game. Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler could call Night net 'Monday Night Football' games this fall

  • Night net NCAA Football American Football ESPN's No. 1 college football broadcast duo at least temporarily could become the network's "Monday Night Football" broadcast duo in 2020.If this year's college football season is delayed or canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic, ESPN "will likely turn to" play-by-play announcer Chris Fowler and analyst Kirk Herbstreit for its Night net broadcasts, according to Front Office Sports' Michael McCarthy. ESPN's "MNF" booth is currently vacant, as the network is moving on from the broadcast duo of Joe Tessitore and Booger McFarland. After trying but failing to land big names like Al Michaels, Tony Romo, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees for its Monday night booth, ESPN is expected to hire a new duo from its pool of current broadcasters. McCarthy listed Louis Riddick, Dan Orlovsky, Pat McAfee, Steve Levy, Dave Pasch and Brian Griese as candidates. But that hiring process reportedly is on hold while ESPN awaits word on the status of the college football season. MORE: Trey Wingo, Wendi Nix are in limbo at ESPN"It all hinges on when and if college football comes back,” a source told McCarthy. Ryan Clark questions taking Tua Tagovailoa over Justin Herbert: 'Did the Dolphins make the wrong pick?'

  • Night net Dolphins Chargers American Football Tua Tagovailoa has yet to play an Night net snap. That would suggest that it's a bit early to make any rash judgments about his No. 3 overall draft selection by the Dolphins. But that didn't stop former Steelers defensive back and ESPN analyst Ryan Clark. After Justin Herbert — the third QB taken in the 2020 draft behind Joe Burrow and Tagovailoa — wowed on "Monday Night Football," Clark spoke about his newfound love of Herbert. "This dude is a star," Clark said. "I didn’t think he was last year when I watched him in person (against) Arizona State. But to see what he's doing now, I'm starting to ask the question, 'Did the Miami Dolphins make the wrong pick?'" MORE: Why Justin Herbert was more prepared for Night net than draft experts projected At the time of Miami's selection, it was everyone's logical choice. Burrow had burst onto the scene for the national champions, LSU, and was the consensus No. 1 overall pick by the Bengals. Dominant defensive end Chase Young from Ohio State went next to the Washington Football Team. Tagovailoa's stock had fallen a bit from before the 2019 college football seaso[......]

Urban Meyer Night net rumors: Coach reportedly assembling staff for if he takes Jaguars job

  • Night net Jaguars American Football Urban Meyer is reportedly taking steps that seem to indicate interest in making a jump to the Night net.ESPN's Adam Schefter on Saturday reported that Meyer is assembling a coaching staff — including former college assistants — if he decides to take over as Jacksonville's head coach. Former Ohio State HC Urban Meyer has been assembling a coaching staff, including some assistants from the college ranks, should he decide to become the Jaguars' next HC, per league sources.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 9, 2021MORE: Meyer's best Night net fits include Jaguars, Lions and ChargersThe wording of Schefter's tweet is worth noting, as well, putting the emphasis on Meyer holding the decision to become the next Jaguars head coach.  Jacksonville went 1-15 in 2020, securing the top overall pick in the 2021 Night net Draft. That ensures Meyer — who has reportedly been approached by two Night net teams — could build the Jaguars around likely No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence, who on Wednesday declared for the draft. It certainly doesn't hurt that Meyer, who has been out of coaching since December 2018, has a home in Florida and is aware of the culture from his time coaching Florida's football team (Gaine[......]

Vikings draft picks 2021: Who did Minnesota take? Full list of NFL Draft selections

  • NFL Vikings American Football Last year, the Minnesota Vikings had 15 draft picks. They used them to bring an infusion of talent to the team. With that came inexperience and in a shortened offseason due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it took the team a while before they were able to get into a groove, especially on defense. That said, Justin Jefferson could have arguably been the Offensive Rookie of the Year for how he performed at receiver. The Vikings will be looking to land some similarly-talented players in the 2021 NFL Draft, and armed with the No. 14 pick, they should have a chance to land a solid player. The Vikings will probably want to focus on upgrading the trenches considering that their blocking hasn't been great on offense and their pass rush didn't do as well as expected last year. That's why they parted with Yannick Ngakoue midway through the season, and their blocking issues are part of why they parted with Riley Reiff. Upgrades are needed for Minnesota, but they can compete in the NFC North if they can fill their biggest needs and see their young prospects take the next step. Here's a look at the Vikings' picks in the 2021 NFL Draft: MORE NFL DRAFT: Complete 7-round mock | Top 100 big boardVikings draft picks 2021: Who did[......]
