What's wrong with the Packers' defense? Za'Darius Smith injury, Kevin King return, new DC to blame

  • NFL Packers 49ers 49ers v Packers American Football 夜网论坛 The Packers had one of their best defensive campaigns in recent memory during the 2020 NFL season. They ranked ninth in yards allowed (334) and 13th in scoring defense (23.1) en route to earning the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff picture.Coming into 2021, there were hopes that they could replicate their relative success while cleaning up some of the areas that troubled them down the stretch. Instead, they have regressed in the early stages of the 2021 campaign. The Packers have allowed the ninth-most points per game through two games at 27.5. They have been better in terms of total yardage allowed — their 333 per game ranks 10th in the NFL and just about matches their average allowed last season — but they are undeniably having issues. After all, their defense allowed a 123.3 passer rating to Jameis Winston and Jared Goff. That ranks 27th in the NFL. So, what exactly is going wrong for the Packers? It boils down to a few key issues.TIMELINE: Recapping all of the Aaron Rodgers/Packers dramaZa'Darius Smith's[......]

Cam Jordan, Saints announce Ida relief donations and show support for New Orleans community

  • NFL Saints Saints v Packers American Football Even though the Saints can’t play in New Orleans yet because of Hurricane Ida’s effect on the region, it didn’t stop the organization and some of the players from donating their time and money to help out the community.Saints owner Gayle Benson initially donated $1 million to the relief fund, which then sparked the Falcons, Ravens and Panthers organizations to each donate $1 million. The National Football League Organization additionally donated $1 million. Apart from the owners donating money, Saints defensive end Cam Jordan announced Thursday on his Instagram account that he would give $40,000 to the Second Harvest Food Bank in New Orleans to spread awareness about people who have gone hungry since the hurricane.     View this post on Instagram           A post shared by Cameron Jordan (@camjordan94)But that’s not all. Jordan will begin doing Cameo video messages for donations. Some of his videos are $4 to represent that one in four children in Louisiana deals with hunger issues. Cowboys downplay Ezekiel Elliott's lacking touches in Week 1: 'We’re going to need Zeke to pound it'

  • NFL Cowboys American Football Ezekiel Elliott wasn't as involved as usual in the Cowboys' Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers. Elliott had 11 carries — the second-lowest total of his career — in Dallas' 31-29 defeat. That was a departure from the 16.3 carries per game he averaged in Mike McCarthy's first season with the Cowboys. Is there any reason for concern with Elliott's lacking touches in the season opener? Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore doesn't think so. He explained that the Cowboys simply passed the ball more because the Bucs have one of the NFL's best run defenses. “That was a unique game,” Moore said to reporters Monday, per USA Today Sports. “If we need to throw it 60 times, if we need to run it 60 times, I really don’t care. That was the No. 1 rushing defense in the NFL. We could bang our head against the wall if we want.“But at the end of the day, I thought they did a good job stopping the run.” MORE: Why Mike McCarthy limited Ezekiel Elliott's carries, went pass-heavy vs. BuccaneersThe Buccaneers have been the NFL's top run defense in back-to-back years, so limiting Elliott's carries was sensible. In fact, the team as a whole ran just 18 total run plays of their 77 plays. That was good for a run percentage of 23.3,[......]

Bills' Devin Singletary takes advantage of Zack Moss' absence in strong preseason Week 1 effort

  • NFL Bills Lions Lions v Bills American Football Devin Singletary entered the Bills' first preseason game listed as the team's top running back, but his spot atop the Buffalo depth chart was far from secure. Second-year running back Zack Moss was breathing down his neck after a solid rookie campaign.Singletary, though, got an opportunity to stake his claim for the starting job Friday. Moss was out for the Bills' first preseason game because of a hamstring injury. That gave Singletary a chance to pull ahead in the position battle. Singletary did not miss his chance. He started the game with a slippery 15-yard run and continued to rip off chunks of yardage — including a 16-yard gain that was wiped out by a holding penalty — in the first half. He also caught his only target of the night and turned it into an easy touchdown.Made it look too easy. 😎 #BUFvsDET📺: WIVB + @NFLNetwork + The Bills App pic.twitter.com/z0xnZOkLfH— Buffalo Bills (@BuffaloBills) August 14, 2021Singletary finished with 42 rushing yards on eight carries and the 6-yard TD reception. • It was the middle of World War II and Second Lt. Jack Watson was piloting one of four B-17 Flying Fortresses flying over New York. They were passing on their way to Maine for one last layover before heading to England.According to the 303rd Bomb Group, they were flying over Yankee Stadium when they realized Game 1 of the 1943 World Series was being played. • NFL Packers 49ers 49ers v Packers American Football There was concern for Packers receiver Davante Adams after a big hit he took midway through the fourth quarter in the Packers' 30-28 win over the 49ers. He was trying to locate a deep ball from Aaron Rodgers when Jimmie Ward came screaming across the field in an effort to knock the ball out.Adams was unable to corral on the ball. Steelers' Matt Canada reluctant to change sputtering offense: 'We're gonna stick with what we're doing'

  • NFL Steelers American Football The Steelers' offense was hoping to improve in 2021 after a disappointing close to the 2020 season. Instead, the team has stagnated once again and finds itself among the bottom-10 offenses in football. So, what is Pittsburgh going to change to fix that? Nothing, apparently. "We're gonna stick with what we're doing," Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada said Thursday, per the team's official website. "Obviously, that's not the answer and that's not the sexy answer but we believe we're on the right track. We've gotta get some cohesion up front. We're working to get that, and that's not an excuse. We've gotta produce right now, so w夜网论坛e're not running away from it or hiding from it. But we have to continue to do what we're doing.
